Beaver Lake, Asheville, NC

A stunning neighborhood with a small lake, outdoor activities, and close proximity to Downtown Asheville.

About Beaver Lake

Beaver Lake and Lake View Park were built by landscape architect John Nolen. The area was once a grazing meadow for cows, called Baird Bottom. A train service would trolley Asheville tourists back and forth between Merrimon Ave and Weaverville.

It wasn’t until 1923 when the beautiful area took its current name, Beaver Lake. What was once Baird Bottom and it’s former train tracks are now buried beneath the water of the lake. Roughly three-to-four feet deep.

Lake View Park and Beaver Lake are privately owned by its residents, who enjoy its various activities like swimming, paddle boarding, kayaking, walking through its nature trails, and taking in the breathtaking scenery.

In addition to the lake and a bird sanctuary, Beaver Lake is home to The Country Club of Asheville, which includes an 18-hole Donald Ross designed golf course and the historic Omni Grove Park Inn.
